LOST INVENTORY

I find the parts to complete inventory items and for some reason, before can use them.. they disappear..poof, gone.. how do I get them back to use without having to start the game all over again... I'm where I need to load the cannonball into the cannon but I lost the gun powder and a couple other items... before I could use them, they just disappeared from my inventory... gone... :( :( |
